Kent Ride & Stride
The Friends of Kent Churches Sponsored Ride & Stride takes place on the second
Saturday in September each year. This year it will take place on Saturday 14th September 2024.
The Ride & Stride sponsored event also takes place in other counties https://ridestride.org/
Ride & Stride Day is an opportunity to raise money for Kent’s churches and chapels by
cycling or walking or being a welcomer in a church or chapel. Money raised is shared equally between the church or chapel nominated by the participant and the Friends of Kent Churches which awards grants to Kent’s churches and chapels to help preserve them. In 2023 Kent’s Ride & Stride raised £140,019. Many congratulations and thanks to all who took part and raised this magnificent sum. There were 335 riders and 281 striders, in addition, 92 welcomers were sponsored too. Since it started in Kent, Ride & Stride has raised over £3 million and we hope to add to this total in 2024
Participants in Ride & Stride are sponsored, and visit as many, or as few churches and chapels in Kent as they wish. Make the most of visiting churches and chapels not seen before and enjoy the refreshments and time to look around. On the day of the event many of the participating churches and chapels are open from 10-6pm, but if a church is not open, participants can still log their arrival on a sign-in sheet outside the church or chapel.
Cycling is the most popular way of travelling. Explore Kent has many town maps that may be useful for planning your route. from church to church, but participants can walk, run or use public transport, or even go by car, horse, scooter or canoe – whatever you choose, make it a special fun day for a worthy cause. More suggested routes can be found here
